Brent Kohler, President

Brent has led Risk Finance & Investment Corporation,
CA's parent corporation since 1987. Prior to that he was President of Interface, Inc. Brent attended Brigham Young University. Under Brent's leadership, CA has grown from 6 members to over 150 members in just 12 years. That growth has been attributed to CA's tremendous success with average Retro refunds of 40% per year. Brent and his wife Katie have 4 children.

Jennifer Gulbin, Senior Claims Manager

Jennifer has been working with RFIC since January 2002. She is originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, and she earned her BA degree from Bucknell University in 1995. Jennifer has over six years of experience adjudicating and managing claims. Employers of Contractors Alliance and the Washington Manufacturers Council retro groups look to Jennifer for retro support and reduction of employer costs, and they appreciate her vast knowledge of the laws and regulations surrounding workers' compensation in Washington. Jennifer possesses superior people, customer service, and communication skills, and she enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and practical jokes.

Michael Couthran, Senior Claims Manager

Michael spent nine years at L&I working with claims,
including 3 years as a claims manager. He completed over 550 hours
of formal instruction in administering industrial insurance law. At
L&I, Michael gained a reputation for his effective time-loss reduction
and claim-closure rate. He received several awards for outstanding
customer service, and was selected to participate in several elite
projects due to his excellent claims management skills. Michael's
hobbies include racing motorcycles, riding horses, and spending time
with family. |

Laura Matson, Membership Director

Laura received her BA from the University of Northern Colorado. After two years of teaching history and business classes to high school students, she changed course and pursued a career as a secretary/administrative assistant, with an emphasis in law and politics. With over 15 years' experience in this arena, her greatest strengths are attention to detail, organizational and administrative proficiency, as well as superb customer service. As a result of her involvement in the Denver community, Laura was selected to Outstanding Young Women of America for 1983. She is a die-hard Denver Broncos fan, and enjoys reading, playing the piano, square dancing and relaxing with her children, family and friends. |

Cheryl Peterson
Cheryl is president and majority owner of Norse Construction, Inc., a midsize construction company specializing in federal and commercial tenant improvements and remodeling projects, which is jointly owned with her eldest son. Cheryl has been in the construction industry since 1982 and in 1996 formed her own construction company. Education: BA from BYU, married and mother of four, socially and personally committed to her church and community.

Walter L. Schefter
Walter is a principal with Adams Schefter Attorneys at Law, having practiced since 1975. Walter was born in Langdon, North Dakota. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota in 1970 and his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1975. Walter was admitted to the Washington State Bar Association in 1995. He is also a member of the Thurston County Bar Association and the United States Court of Claims.

Bill Jacobs
Bill is a partner with Edward Jones Investments in Tumwater Washington. He has been with Edward Jones since May of 1987 and has run offices for the company in Layton UT, Desoto TX, and for the last eight years in Tumwater. He has been married to Judy for 24 years and they have three children and one grandson. They make their home in Olympia and enjoy gardening, walleyball, the rain, old British sports cars, and globetrotting.

Stephen Daniels-Brown
Stephen is president of Daniels-Brown Communications, Inc., an advertising, design and public relations firm located in Olympia. Stephen is an Eastern Washington native. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree in agricultural economics in 1985. Stephen was a writer and communications director for the Washington State Senate from 1987 - 1994 and served as a communications director and senior policy advisor in the U.S. Congress from 1995-1997. He and his wife Celeste formed Daniels-Brown Communications in 1997. Ad campaigns created by DBC have received state and national advertising awards.
